How Mindy and Julia Built Rolling Reels
Long-time collaborators Mindy and Julia came together officially in 2023 with their feature film, “A Christmas in New Hope”, and have not looked back. They have both worked in front of the camera and behind the scenes, giving them a 360° perspective on how our industry effectively works during pre-production, production, and post-production. We thrive on challenge and collaboration and will bring your project to the next level!

In the world of ever-changing budgets, streaming wars, and the way we watch movies, Mindy and Julia are cracking the code with each film, bringing in a competitive ROI and having a blast while doing it!
Our Work
High school friends party at an abandoned cult home and discover a mysterious oil that drives them into madness. Austin, one of the teens, is haunted by childhood trauma, while his mother (Adrianne Palicki) seeks redemption for her past.
To save her bungalow from foreclosure before Christmas, Victoria (Katrina Bowden), a Gram influencer and single mother of a child living with Down syndrome enters a home-improvement competition in New Hope, Texas. Complications arise when her ex returns home after touring Europe with his new album. Meanwhile, Victoria has fallen in love with her next-door neighbor, Gavin (Ryan Cooper), a Texas musician who has bonded with her daughter Charlie (Mia Analise Armstrong) while helping Victoria fix up her home, as well as her heart. Released Christmas 2024.

About Us
Julia Barnett
(Writer, Director, Actor)
Her acting credits include Nashville, Fear the Walking Dead, and Law & Order: SVU. Barnett made her directorial debut with Chasing Grace at the SXSW TV & Film Festival. Her first feature, A Christmas in New Hope, will be released in 2024. Barnett is in development on the TV series, The Tomorrow Children, based on her short film and book series, Slum Angel. Her feature, Texas Cult House premiered at the Austin Film Festival October 2024, Barnett's next script (Texas Cult House-1989) from her Texas Cult House anthology was awarded "Second Rounder" at AFF2024. She launched Rolling Reels Productions in 2023 with Mindy Raymond with a focus on genre films that highlight stories of marginalized communities.
Mindy Raymond

Mindy is a multi-talented professional in the entertainment industry with a diverse range of roles. Her career includes serving as the Co-founder of The Shine Company, a consultancy dedicated to media infrastructure development and the intersection of film tourism. She also serves as a producer with Rolling Reels Productions, alongside Julia Bartnett, which creates genre films that highlight stories of marginalized communities. Mindy is the Chair of the Advisory Board for Women in Film & Television Austin Chapter. Her unique talent and ability to connect people make her a valuable asset in Texas filmmaking and beyond.
